Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside company operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Utah County Criminal History does not retain or log those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain an email sent to us for the purpose of responding. It stays within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our systems receive basic technical information when a page loads:
- Page-view times and time spent on visited pages
- Device type and operating system
- Browser name and version
- The referring site, when available
- The device’s assigned IP address
- Pages opened during the visit
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device to help measure traffic patterns, including popular pages and exit points. Analytics providers combine that usage data. A browser can block cookies, although doing so may change how some features work.
What We Do With This Data
- Diagnosing errors and other technical problems
- Routing a query to the selected search partner
- Measuring which pages are useful or need improvement
- Operating the site and maintaining good load times
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Utah County Criminal History does not compile, keep, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to the Utah County Sheriff, Utah courts, the Bureau of Criminal Identification, and the Utah Sex, Kidnap, and Child Abuse Offender Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party criminal files.
Third-Party Search Partners
Independent companies power the search boxes. Their own privacy policies govern submitted information, retention, and disclosure. We do not control those practices, so review the applicable provider policy before running a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Utah County offices, court systems, state agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination’s privacy terms apply. Review them before providing personal information.
Some advertising companies may use their own systems to track activity across sites for targeted advertising.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may be available to:
- Analytics vendors that measure traffic and performance
- Search providers processing a query
- Advertising networks serving content on the pages
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
We use standard safeguards for collected data. No online system can guarantee total security, so we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such information, we will remove it.
Your Data Rights
Rights can vary by residence and applicable law. Utah’s Government Records Access and Management Act, Utah Code Title 63G, Chapter 2, governs Utah government records, while Utah Code §53-10-108 controls BCI criminal-history dissemination. Those government rules do not turn this private site into a records custodian. For information we control, you may:
- Request deletion of your data
- Ask what personal information we hold about you
- Seek correction of inaccurate information
- Opt out of certain processing when applicable
Updates to This Policy
We may revise this policy. Any revision will be posted here with a new effective date, so visitors should review the page periodically.
